Centers of Innovation and Occupational Training - CIFO

The Servei d'Ocupació de Catalunya (SOC) has among its priorities to guarantee and promote the training and professional qualification of people. To achieve this it possesses a tool of great value: the network of centres of reference in occupational professional training made up of the eight Innovation and Occupational Training Centres (CIFO) .

The training work undertaken by the CIFOs is mainly based on providing occupation-based training that is specific, of high quality and adapted to the needs of the people, companies and regions. With this work the aim is to provide the theoretical and practical training necessary to obtain and improve the professional skills that favour employment insertion or reinsertion of the people taking past, unemployed workers registered as jobseekers in the Work offices..

The CIFOs focus their training work on those specialities that correspond to jobs that are highly demanded by the economic sectors and which, however, have little provision for training around the region of Catalonia.

• Metallic manufacturing and construction (CIFO Salt, CIFO Lleida anf CIFO Sabadell)
• Mechanical manufacturing (CIFO Sant Feliu)
• Industrial cold (CIFO Lleida)
• Image and sound (CIFO L'Hospitalet)
• Chemical industry (CIFO Tarragona)
• Food industries (CIFO Salt)
• Informatics and communications(CIFO La Violeta, Barcelona)
• Urban gardening (CIFO Santa Coloma)
• Teaching methodology (All the CIFOs)
• Assembly and installation (CIFO Sabadell)
• Integral services for the rehabilitation and maintenance of houses (CIFO Santa Coloma)

Many of the training actions include the possibility of work experience in companies.

Alongside this specialisation, the CIFOs undertake transversal training related to the new technologies such as the know-how and skills related to the use of the Internet and office automation.

Finally, it should be emphasised that the contents of the training actions undertaken are linked to programmes of the professional skills certificates.

In order to provide the possibility of access to the CIFO training courses for any person who fulfils the requisites laid down in the legislation in force, irrespective of region, many of them are intensive, with morning, afternoon and evening timetables, and the students can choose from different economic aids.

FP.CAT

The FP.CAT integrates into a same plan of study the pupils of the Professional Training (FP), independently of if they are studying initial, occupational or continuous FP, thanks to the fact that all three modalities share subjects.
