PROGRAMME OF LOCAL EMPLOYMENT INITIATIVES (I+O)

Official notification 2009

The Servei d'Ocupació de Catalunya,(SOC), through this official notification, promotes subsidies aimed at the creation of economic activity and the generation of stable jobs in emerging or strategic sectors around the region through the promotion of business activity and with the support of the local entities.

Stages of the programme

First: Qualification of local employment initiative

The first stage is when the local entities give support to the business projects. In the case of complying with the requisites, the projects or companies obtain the qualification of Local Employment Initiative (I+O) and are registered in the corresponding registry, which means they can accede to the subsidies of the programme.

Temporarily the call is closed to present new requests of qualification.

Second: Subsidies

The projects or companies that have been qualified as Local Employment Initiative (I+O) by the SOC can apply for, within the year following the beginning of their economic activity, the following aids:

1. Indefinite contracting: for hiring of unemployed people with a permanent contract (4,808.10 euros per full-time job, or the proportional part if it is part-time).

2. Cooperatives and worker's cooperatives: for the unemployed worker partners who form part of the cooperative on a permanent basis (4,808.10 euros per partner in a full-time job, or the proportional part if it is part-time).

3. Financial: by reduction of up to 3 interest points of the loans made for investments for creating and starting up the business activity (with a maximum limit of 5,108.60 euros per stable job created).

4. Support for the management function: aimed at improving the capacity of the promoter in taking business decisions (75% of the cost of the action with a limit of 12,020.24 euros), by means of support for the teaching, support for training and support for undertaking external studies and reports about the activity.

5. Technical assistance: to facilitate the hiring of highly qualified experts/officers for improving the business activity and for the successful execution of it. (50% of the salary costs with the limit of 18,030.36 euros).

For this second stage every year an official notification is published in the Diari Oficial de la Generalitat de Catalunya (DOGC)to be able to apply for these subsidies.

Measures that boost this programme

• The stable creation of economical activity and job creation in emergent or strategic sectors for the territory, through the promotion of the entrepreneurial activity and with the support of the entities local.
• Favoring the companies of new creation in cases of entrepreneurial closings, delocalizations, etc. promoted by the own working ones and workers.

Beneficiaries

The beneficiary companies are micro-companies and small businesses, in all cases with a staff of less than 25 people working at the time of their constitution and have been previously qualified as Local Employment Initiative (I+O).

Target groups

The actions are aimed as a priority to unemployed people who are registered in the Servei d'Ocupació de Catalunya.

Funding

1.200.000 euros

With co-funding from the European Social Fund.
