Occupational plans for local entities to clean woods and tree-filled areas

As a result of the snowfall this March, the Generalitat de Catalunya has passed a decree of urgent measures to alleviate the damage caused and reduce the risks to the environment. Among these measures, the Servei d'Ocupació de Catalunya has opened up a line of extraordinary subsidies for local entities, the aim of which is to undertake occupational plans to clean woods and tree-filled areas as well as the cleaning and recovery of paths and river-beds, which do not come under the category of strategic interventions.

The subsidies must be used exclusively for funding the costs of hiring workers unemployed workers registered as jobseekers in the Servei d'Ocupació de Catalunya with at least six months registered as a jobseeker and not have started any occupational plan in the same period.

Beneficiary entities

Local entities in Catalonia may apply for the subsidies (or their dependent or linked entities), which is established in appendix I of the Decree.

Hiring of workers

The mode of hiring in this official notification is the works or specifics service contract, for a maximum length of three months and a minimum working day of 70% according to what is stated in the resolution awarding the subsidy.

For the hiring of workers, local entities will be able to adhere to the specific Framework Agreement for hiring unemployed people (TRE/637/2010, of the 2 March; DOGC number 5586 - 12.3.2010) which was signed on the 16 February between the Association and Federation of Municipalities of Catalonia and the CCOO and UGT trade unions.

Funding

6,000,000 euros.

Regulation

• Decree 43/2010, of the 23 March, which passes urgent measures to alleviate the damage caused and reduce the risks to the environment due to the snowstorm of March 2010
• Order TRE/351/2009, of the 7 July, which amends Order TRE/235/2009, of the 8 May, which establishes the rules and opens the official notification for 2009 for the awarding of subsidies for undertaking occupational plans and for the actions of the employment guidance network.
